V1.1 - Brand New Title Screen and Level Design!

Welcome and thanks for playing Legacy Of Embers! The purpose of this is to give a little more detail and context on the changes we made in the most recent update, V1.1.

Windows32, MacOS X and Linux - We added support for a other desktop platforms, so whoever wants to play Legacy of Embers can do so. Please be aware that, for Linux, we test on the openSUSE Leap 15.2 distribution, and is not guaranteed by TheIndieDream to work on any other Linux distribution.

All New Title Screen - We got rid of the stock boot screen and added a peaceful campfire scene as our main menu, where our main character is seen relaxing on the eve of battle. All new animations, models, and sound effects were used to create this calming experience. Stick around the fire for a while... Tomorrow will be a challenge!

Updated Level Design - We have added to the level to make the world feel more lifelike and lived in. The small mining camp now has some trees, grass and rocks, as well as some crate clusters to keep the battle interesting. All of these objects can be used for cover during the battle! We understand that with these changes, camera motion feels natural and necessary. We are working hard to implement that movement! Later on, we hope to add new levels entirely to the demo. Also, to keep things fresh, we moved the player character to the town's entrance and spread the enemies a little farther out.

Building Animation - When any actor goes to build a Bot, they will get hammering!

Audio - We noticed that the ambience was a little harsh and didn't fit the main scene well. We added all new ambience to soften the noise. Additionally, the actors now give a hearty "hup!" when vaulting over the logs.

UI - Playtesting revealed that it wasn't obvious that there was a limit on shots, and left players wondering why the character would all of a sudden stop responding to input. To remedy this, we added some prompts to alert the player as to why the character has stopped responding. We plan to add more indicators (such as player turn) later on to further strengthen the player's feedback loop. Additionally, a "How to Play" section will be added sometime this month. We also removed the boot screen UI because, well, we have a title screen now. Maybe you've heard.

UI Scaling - I (Brandon) did not pay enough attention to this in earlier games. Legacy Of Embers has been updated to fit all resolutions and screen sizes. To celebrate, we set the player to maximize so you all can get a nice, clear look at our low-poly style.

We hope you enjoyed the newly updated game, and I hope to have you back next week for another content update. Thanks for reading!

Best Regards,

Brandon from TheIndieDream
